A peek behind the scenes at Cloud Bakery. The West Midlands based artisan cake makers invited us into their kitchens to capture the loving preperation of their hand crafted creations.
Ensenada & Puebla
Old El Paso, the UK's number one Mexican Food brand, sent us to the regions that inspired their new recipe range. Ensenada, on the Baja peninsular, the spiritual home of the Fish Taco & the mountain enclave of Puebla, famous for its spicy Tinga sauce. We shot the sights, sounds and cuisine to create a 'cullinary look book'.
Original BTC - Ceramic
Original BTC, the stylish British lighting brand, wanted us to document the painstaking and delicate production process of their beautiful bone china range. Each pendant is handcrafted using centuries old techniques in their Stoke-on-Trent based factory. The assignment gave us a wonderful opportunity to capture an atmosphere steeped in the history of Britain's ceramic industry.
Volvo asked us to shoot a rehearsal with their V40 embassador Marie Rosenmir, one of Sweden's most respected female music conductors.
ORIGINAL BTC - GLASS
In the second part of an ongoing project for lighting company, Original BTC, we visited their glass making workshop in the midlands. Each one of their glass lamps and pendants are beautifully crafted using glassbowing techniques that have changed little since 1st century BC.
SCHOFIELD WATCHES - 'The Whiskey Plank'
Boat building and watchmaking are similar in many ways. Both require precision mathematics and intuitive craftsmanship. Indeed, fitting the final plank into the hull of a wooden boat is such a precise and difficult procedure that it is traditionally celebrated with a bottle of whiskey. Alva, a 30ft hand built cutter, broke her moorings in a storm and smashed against rocks in Falmouth Harbour. After months of delicate reconstruction work, Schofield watches asked us to capture the final stages of her renaissance. 'The Whiskey plank' features Boatbuilder, Ben Harris, his boat Alva and the beautifully crafted Schofield Signalman.
The French love marshmallow. In Gateaux, at dinner parties or as petit fours with a cafe creme. It was whilst training as a chocolatier in Paris that Oonagh Simms saw the possibilities of marshmallow. She embarked on a mission to show us Brits that marshmallows aren't just for cremating over bonfires on the end of a stick. Through her stall on Portobello market, Oonagh experimented with an unusual host of natural and decadent ingredients. Basil & strawberry, raspberry & champagne, blueberry & gin. Her gourmet creations soon became the toast of Vogue, Wallpaper magazine and The Times. Next followed contracts with Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and partnerships with the likes of Alexander McQueen. Somewhere up north went up north to capture the sweet and fluffy world of The Marshmallowist.
Bellerby & Co are one of the last handmade terrestrial and celestial globemakers in the world. Each globe is built to order and hand painted in their busy north London workshop by a team of specialist artists. The non-mechanised process means that each piece has its own unique hand mixed colour pallet and idiosyncratic signature of each artist. Alongside the bespoke globes there are also special edition designs that pay homage to historically significant globes. The majestic 'Churchill' for example, limited to just one per year. With its epic 50 inch diameter is made to the exact specifications of the globe presented to its namesake and Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942, to cement their special friendship. Somewhere up north got amongst the maps and paintbrushes to find out how the Earth is formed.
